Crisis Intervention Training for Community Leaders funding addresses this barrier by equipping local officials with the skills necessary to provide immediate support and direct individuals to appropriate resources. In Mississippi, 70% of the population lives in rural areas, and 40% of counties lack a single mental health provider. Who Faces This Barrier Locally? Community leaders, first responders, and residents in rural Mississippi are disproportionately affected by the lack of mental health resources. The funding will be used to develop tailored training programs addressing the specific needs of Mississippi's rural communities. Mississippi's Rural Healthcare Landscape requires applicants to demonstrate an understanding of the state's unique challenges and propose strategies to address them.
